WHAT I DO

Specialized support for higher ed web teams.

Webmastering & Ongoing Support

Day-to-day management of your institution's website — updates, maintenance, plugin oversight, and keeping everything running without pulling your IT team away from other priorities.

Full Website Redesigns

End-to-end redesign support, from planning and stakeholder alignment to overseeing implementation. I've worked alongside vendors like Modern Campus and know how higher ed rebuilds actually run.

Performance & SEO Audits

Identifying what's slowing your site down — redundant plugins, bloated code, outdated configurations — and fixing it. Faster pages, better rankings, less technical debt.

Process Automation

Replacing manual, email-based workflows with automated tools — from registrar request forms to approval flows. Less back-and-forth, fewer errors, more time for your team.

Managed Platforms

Support for platforms beyond the main website — SharePoint, Cvent, and other institutional tools your teams depend on daily. I normalize processes and train staff so things run consistently.

Cross-Department Digital Projects

Coordinating digital initiatives that touch multiple departments and stakeholders. I've worked with registrars, marketing, IT, and academic units to deliver projects that actually get used.

THE PROCESS

How we work together.

  1. Discovery

We talk through your current setup, pain points, and goals. No jargon, no sales pitch — just an honest look at what's working and what isn't.

  2. Proposal

You get a clear scope of work with timelines and deliverables. No surprise add-ons, no vague retainers unless that's what fits.

  3. Build

I get to work — coordinating with your team, vendors, or both. I adapt to how your institution communicates, whether that's async or hands-on.

  4. Launch

Careful rollout with testing and documentation. Your team knows what was done and why, so nothing is a black box after I'm done.

  5. Support

Ongoing help if you need it. Clients get access to a dedicated project dashboard and a ticketing system to submit requests — no need to chase anyone by email.

WORKING WITH ME

Organized, transparent, and built around how higher ed actually works.

Higher ed has its own pace, its own approval chains, and its own politics. I've worked inside that environment long enough to know how to get things done without disrupting your team. Depending on the project, I can work async and independently or closely alongside your staff and vendors — whatever moves things forward.

  • Dedicated project dashboard to track progress
  • Ticketing system for support requests — no more email chains
  • Shared timelines and milestones
  • Works async or hands-on depending on the project
  • Comfortable working alongside internal IT departments
  • Experience coordinating with vendors and third-party platforms
  • Available for one-off projects and ongoing retainers
  • Based in Mexico, working on US Central time

CASE STUDY

A year of support — and a rebuild kept on track.

Small Private Liberal Arts College — New England

The Problem

Mitchell College in New London, CT was running on a website full of outdated and redundant plugins, and relying on slow manual processes — approvals by email, event creation without a consistent workflow, and administrative requests handled entirely by hand.

The Solution

Over more than a year of webmastering support, I audited and cleaned up the plugin ecosystem to reduce bloat and security risk. I built automated request tools for the registrar's office, eliminating manual email approvals. I standardized how events were created in Cvent across the institution. I also oversaw the early phases of their website rebuild with Modern Campus, keeping the project aligned while day-to-day operations continued.

FAQ

Common questions.

I already have an internal IT department. Why would I need you?

IT teams are usually stretched thin keeping infrastructure running. Web strategy, content management, process automation, and vendor coordination often fall through the cracks — that's where I come in. I work alongside your IT team, not instead of them.

We use [specific CMS]. Can you work with it?

I've worked with WordPress, Drupal, Modern Campus (Omni CMS), Cascade, and platforms like SharePoint and Cvent. If you're on something else, I'm upfront about whether I'm the right fit — I won't take a project I can't deliver on.

What does ongoing support actually look like?

Clients on a support retainer get access to a dedicated project dashboard and a ticketing system to submit requests. No more hunting down freelancers by email. You submit a ticket, I handle it, you see the status in real time.

We're a public institution with procurement requirements. Can you work within that?

Yes. I understand that higher ed procurement moves differently than the private sector. I can provide quotes, scope documents, W-9s, and whatever else your purchasing office needs.

Are you available for short-term projects or just long-term contracts?

Both. Some clients bring me in for a one-time audit or a specific project. Others keep me on retainer for ongoing support. We figure out what fits your situation.

Where are you based and what time zone do you work in?

I'm based in Mexico and work on US Central time. For most higher ed teams on the East or West Coast, that means significant overlap with your regular business hours.

Why should we work with a freelancer instead of an agency?

With an agency you often pay for account managers and overhead, and the person you meet in the sales call isn't the person doing the work. With me, you always know who you're talking to and who's building.

I've never hired a freelance web consultant before. How do we start?

Send me a message through the form below. We'll schedule a short call to talk through what you need — no commitment, no sales pressure. If it's a good fit, I'll send a proposal. If it's not, I'll tell you that too.
